Thompson fans will have another chance to enjoy junior hockey when the OCN Blizzard and Flin Flon Bombers play an exhibition game here Sept. 8.

The Flin Flon Bombers and OCN Blizzard will meet on neutral Norman ground for the second pre-season in a row, with a Thompson tilt scheduled for Sept. 8, according to the Bombers' schedule released on their website.

The game will be the third of the pre-season for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Bombers, who open Sept. 4 at home against the Swan Valley Stampeders of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League who they play again, also at Flin Flon’s Whitney Forum, two nights later.

The Wednesday game in Thompson will be Flin Flon's first exhibition game away from home and they will face the Blizzard, who also play in the MJHL, once more Setp. 13. Their other two exhibition games will be a home-and-home series with the SJHL's Nipawin Hawks Sept. 10-11.

The Blizzard and Bombers played an exhibition game in Thompson last Sept. 5 in the steamy C.A. Nesbitt Arena, with David Dykstra of Flin Flon scoring twice in the final frame to lead his team to a 3-2 victory, He also notched the Bombers' first goal of the game in the second period.

Zeanan Buternowksi and T.J. Constant had the goals for OCN.

About 480 fans showed up for the game, played under less-than-ideal conditions as warm temperatures steamed up the glass around the arena. Former Norman Northstars Tanner Korchinski and Brennan Cox suited up for the Bombers in the game, while Jaron Campbell, who later played the regular season with the Thompson-based AAA midget squad, was on the ice for OCN.
