Connor Shaw

Former Thompson resident Connor Shaw finished 10th overall at the Manitoba Men's Junior Championship July 13-16 at Teulon Golf & Country Club and Niakwa Country Club.

Shaw, now living in Dauphin, was six over par in the final round, to finish at +22, 18 strokes behind champion Aaron Cockerill from the Teulon Golf & Country Club.

His previous round was five over par, while the second round was his best of the tournament, a three-over 75. Shaw opened the tournament with a score of 80.

He hit nine birdies through the tournament along with 23 bogeys and four double bogeys. He managed par on half of the holes through the four rounds.

Shaw won his age division at the Thompson Golf Club's junior club championship in both 2007 and 2008, as well as in the 2008 junior open.

Shaw started competing on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour in 2007 and was 11th in his age group at the tour's 2008 national championship.
