Cross Lake hit-and-run turns fatal

A 22-year-old man from Cross Lake has died after being struck by a motor vehicle in the Island Park area of Cross Lake, according to Winnipeg-based RCMP spokesperson Const. Miles Hiebert.

RCMP say that they and local emergency services were called to the scene of a hit-and-run near Island Park in the early morning hours of July 24. Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.

An RCMP traffic analyst was also on scene to assist with the investigation.

The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next-of-kin. There were no other injuries or damage reported, and the RCMP continue to investigate.
