What do you when you have way too many kittens?
If you’re the Thompson Humane Society on Nelson Road, you hold a sale, says shelter worker Len Podbisky.
The Thompson Humane Society is currently overrun with kittens,” Podbisky says. “Due to two pregnant cats and found kittens the shelter has 19 kittens ready for adoption and to provide an incentive there will be a sale for one week only. For the week of July 19 to July 24, the shelter will reduce the price of our kittens for adoption to $100,” he says. The normal price is close to $300, says Podbisky.
“This one time offer will come with a spay or neutering coupon which is hon0ored at the Thompson Vet Clinic,” Podbisky adds. “Our kittens range in age from three weeks to three months old and there are a mixture of breeds.”
Adopting out the kittens will affect the shelter in two positive ways, he says. “First, and the most obvious is that we find homes for these animals. Second, the attention can be shifted back to the adult cats we have. Most people coming into the shelter go right for the kittens and ignore our adult cats, some of who have been with us for months.”
To view these kittens you can visit the shelter at 27 Nelson Rd. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
