My, my, aren’t you colourful

This colorful bug – Nicrophorus defodiens – a type of carrion beetle, was found trapped in a rain gauge in a garden. This is a boreal and montane species, found from Alaska to Newfoundland and south along the mountains in both the east and west, including the Northern boreal forest. It was photographed using a compact point and shoot Canon Power Shot SD790 IS set on digital macro setting.
