Lebrasseur competes in Saskatoon

Justin Lebrasseur of the Thompson Northern Torpedoes swim club competed in seven events at the Man/Sask Open Long Course Championships in Saskatoon July 8-11, qualifying for the finals in four of them.

Lebrasseur qualified in sixth position in the boys 13-year-olds 100-metre butterfly with a time of 1:21.47, then improved his time in the final, completing the course in 1:19.62, though he still finished out of the top five.

He was ninth in the preliminary round of the 50-metre breaststroke, with a time of 44.71 seconds, and then swam the course in 43.10 seconds in the finals.

In the 50-metre freestyle, Lebrasseur placed 10th in preliminaries, swimming the course in 30.10 seconds. He was 10th again in the finals, with a time of 31.64.

Lebrasseur also competed in the boys 13-year-olds 100-metre freestyle, completing the course in 1:08.44, and the 100-metre breaststroke, which he swam in 1:41.23. He qualified for the finals in that event but did not swim.

He swam the 200-metre freestyle in 2:30.33 seconds and the 50-metre butterfly in 36.37.

Lebrasseur had three second-place finishes and two thirds at the 2010 Manitoba Junior and 10-and-under Long Course Provincial Championships in Winnipeg June 11-13.
