Norman Northstars graduates Ryan Delorme and Cody Zulyniak have signed with the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey league, the team reported on its website.
Goaltender Delorme spent three seasons with the Northstars and played the pivotal role in leading his squad to a first-round playoff defeat of the Interlake Lightning last February. He played 301 minutes in six playoff contests, finishing the postseason with a record of two wins and three losses and a goals-against average of 4.39. During the regular season, Delorme played 1,966 minutes, giving up 146 goals and posting a record of 10-19-3 with one shutout and a 4.46 GAA. Delorme, who hails from The Pas, was named the team’s most valuable player for the 2009-2010 season and also won the award for garnering the most defensive player of the game awards through the course of the season.
Zulyniak was the third-leading scorer in his second season with the Northstars, potting 19 goals and 21 assists in 41 games, including an overtime game-winner at home against the Winnipeg Wild, before being knocked out for the last three regular season games and the entire postseason with a broken ankle.
Zulyniak shared the award as top goalscorer on the team with captain Quentin Holmes and was also recognized for picking up the most offensive player of the game awards this season at the team’s awards banquet in April.
