Ranelle McKinnon of The Pas scored her first two goals of the season and had four points as the Norman Wild lost a two-game playoff to Brandon Feb. 20-21.

The Norman Wild's first Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League season came to an end Feb. 21 as the squad lost a two-game playoff series to Brandon, the team they beat a week earlier for their only win of the season.

Brandon took the opener of the total-points series 9-4 Feb. 20, establishing a 2-0 lead in the opening period, then outscoring the Wild 7-3 in the middle frame. Chanelle Arthurson, Dayna Hayes, Ranelle McKinnon and Pamela McLeod recorded goals for the Wild. McKinnon's tally was her first of the season and she also picked up two assists, as did McLeod. Cassandra Hickes and Kimberly Kobar shared the goaltending duties, with Hickes allowing seven goals on 34 shots in 35 minutes of play, while Kobar stopped 16 of 18 shots she faced in 25 minutes.

The Wild fell behind early again in the second game of the series, allowing three goals in the opening period before getting on the board in the middle frame. Brandon outscored the Wild 5-2 in the third period to finish with a 9-3 win. McKinnon scored again while McLeod tallied twice. Kobar stopped 36 of 45 shots in net.

The Wild concluded their 2009-2010 hockey season this past weekend at the female midget AA provincials in Ste. Anne, going winless in three games. They were shut out 5-0 by Interlake and 7-0 by Yellowhead, while also losing 6-4 to the Winnipeg Victorias.
