North Stars finish with win over Cross Lake

The Norway House North Stars capped off their season with a 14-7 win over the Cross Lake Islanders in Keystone Junior Hockey League action Jan. 10.

Kevin Braun led the way, scoring four goals and three assists, while Skylar Tait-Reaume and Edward Lathlin each had four points, Tait-Reaume with a hat trick and an assist, Lathlin with two goals and two helpers. Jon Mowat had three assists and Jon Ducharme had two goals, while Cody Einarson, Elijah Richard and Jesse Dumas chipped in with one goal apiece.

Scott Ross was the top scorer for Cross Lake, setting up six of his team's goal, while Clark Ross had five points on four goals and an assist. Carlson Scott added a goal and three assists.

The North Stars went ahead early, as Ducharme opened the scoring 5:22 into the game before Clark Ross tied it 96 seconds later. Norway House then scored four consecutive goals and led 5-2 at the end of the first period. The teams split six goals in the second before Norway House outscored the Islanders 6-2 in the final frame.

Shots were 60-35 in favour of the North Stars. The win was their 14th of the season.

The Islanders finished the season with a record of 2-30 after forfeiting games with the Arborg Ice Dawgs and Sanford Titans Feb. 14-15.
