The Norway House North Stars split a road trip in Keystone Junior Hockey League action last weekend, beating the Sanford Titans 6-5 in overtime Feb. 7 after falling 11-4 to the Selkirk Fishermen the previous night.
Skylar Tait-Reaume, the third-leading scorer in the KJHL, had the overtime winner against Sanford, scoring less than a minute in assisted by Jesse Dumas and Elijah Richard. Tait-Reaume also had the tying goal, scored midway through the third period, after scoring two of the North Stars’ four goals in the opening period. The league's leading scorer, Kevin Braun, opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game. Cody Einarson scored the North Stars' fourth goal with 4:37 left in the opening frame, putting his team up by three.
Sanford roared back to take the lead with four unanswered goals in the second period.
Cody Ballard, Jon Mowat and Braun, with a pair, were the goalscorers for Norway House against the Fishermen, who had the only goal of the first period in that game and went ahead 5-2 with four goals in the second period.
The North Stars now have a record of 13-13-5 and sit five points back of the fifth-place Arborg Ice Dawgs in league standings.
The Cross Lake Islanders remain in the league's basement. Their games scheduled for Feb. 6-7 at Sanford and Arborg were cancelled.
