Reader applauds Hussain Guisti’s ‘patient advocacy’

To the Editor:

Hussain Guisti is a man of courage and conviction.

I was thrilled by the editorial, regarding “shooting the messenger.” It was an excellent editorial and wish you could have heard my applause from my desk.

Guisti, in my opinion, has been maligned and treated very unfairly. To someone on the outside looking in, he reminds me of a “patient care advocate.” I am not sure if it is all of Manitoba, but I do know that Thompson does not have one. This is normally a voluntary position, one that I held years ago in my hometown in Ontario.

Guisti’s concerns are the patients, their families, and the fiduciary aspects of the Burntwood Regional health Authority and he is just wanting someone, anyone, to be accountable to us all.
