Ex-Northstars now playing in SJHL

Former Norman Northstars are now contributing to teams in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, with the Flin Flon Bombers counting four ex-players on their roster.

Forward Doug McLeod has three goals and two assists in 15 games with the Bombers this season, to go along with 17 minutes in penalties. His most recent goal came Oct. 23 versus the Estevan Bruins, whose roster includes Snow Lake defenceman Calvin Cairns, one of two Northstars to make the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League all-star game last season.

Cairns has one assist and two penalty minutes in seven games with the Bruins.

Former Northstars captain Tanner Korchinksi has appeared in 15 games on the blue-line for Flin Flon, recording one goal and four assists and four penalty minutes.

Other ex-Northstars on the Bombers roster are Brennan Cox, who had no points and five penalty minutes in two games with the Bombers and Cory Dupre, who did not get on the scoresheet in two games with Flin Flon early in October.
