Cory Nygaard, who spent last season as a goaltender with the Norman Northstars, is now stopping pucks for the defending Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League champions the Winnipeg Wild and boasts a record of three wins and no losses following two weeks of the 2009-2010 season.

Nygaard had six wins, 12 losses and two ties for the Northstars in the regular season last year, with a goals-against average of 4.10. He made a brief appearance in the playoffs, replacing starter Ryan Delorme in an 11-2 loss to the Interlake Lightning in the first game of their best-of-three series.

Nygaard made 17 saves in a 8-2 Wild win over the Parkland Rangers Oct. 11.

In 185 minutes played, he has given up six goals and boasts a goals-against average of 1.95, sixth-best in the league, two spots below his teammate Connor Darowski, who has given up three goals in 120 minutes of action for a GAA of 1.50.
